  • Darrel Woo

    Darrel H. Woo

    Co-Chief Executive Officer

    As co-founder and co-CEO of Climb Education, Woo brings his expertise and proficiency to early education learning with our integrated program’s technology-driven and active learning solutions. As a former member of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Trustees, Woo served as a region director for the California School Board Association, representing five counties. In addition, he served as a member of the association’s Delegate Assembly in addition to the Policy Platform Committee. In 2023, Woo was awarded a Council of Great City Schools Special Recognition Award for his work as vice-president.

    He served as an adjunct law professor for 10 years at Lincoln Law School and in state government as the governor-appointed Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, as well as senior staff counsel at the California Department of Insurance. As a community leader, he established a scholarship fund for high school students pursuing higher education, in addition to co-founding a women’s and children’s shelter who are victims of domestic violence.

    Woo is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, and also has his law degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento. He resides with his family in Sacramento.

    Co-Chief Executive Officer

    As co-founder and co-chairman of Climb Educate, Gene Liu pioneered new technologies and learning processes to empower and expand our young children minds. His leadership of the U.S. operations is instrumental in shaping Climb for California’s educational future by implementing our next era of smart academic achievement and learning.

    As the current CEO of U.S. publicly traded IPE Universal, Inc., an investment firm which focuses on education development and research, Liu initially established the Taiwan based headquarters of Climb, spinning off operations in the U.S. As a serial entrepreneur with extensive capabilities in the business field, Liu leads the way on business growth, strategic investment opportunities, marketing, sales, strategy and corporate finance.

    Liu is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.

    Susie Y. Wong

    Chief Operating Officer / Policy and Social Initiatives Chief

    As a co-founder Susie Wong serves as chief operating officer and oversees Climb’s entire operations, as well as customer service and support. In addition, she leads policy and social initiatives to articulate policy objectives. She also leads Climb’s Play Based Learning Initiative, focused on excellence in education and social opportunity, in addition for responsibility for Climb’s education policy programs, its product accessibility work, and its state and federal government affairs function.

    Prior to Climb, Wong was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve in key positions in areas such as finance, investment and environment sectors, and also served as executive speechwriter for former California Treasurer John Chiang. As a former TV, radio and newspaper reporter, she is recognized by state government for her leadership role in award-winning statewide public information campaigns. As the founder and president of nonprofit Asians in Energy, her team leads and educates Asian American and Pacific Islanders on energy issues and trends to inspire understanding, expand knowledge and strengthen communities.

    Mary Hyunh

    Director of Operations

    As Director of Operations at Climb, Mary Huynh oversees product quality, planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and fulfillment. Since joining Climb, she has played an important role in delivering each of the company’s innovative products to market and shaping the operational foundation to support future growth.

    Prior to Climb, Huynh built and scaled multiple businesses from the ground up, gaining firsthand experience in launching brands, driving customer growth, and creating efficient, resilient operations. She also consulted companies on product launches, restructuring, and expansion strategies. Earlier in her career, she held multi-functional roles at Lockheed Martin Corporation, serving as a financial analyst and leading reporting, analysis, and strategic financial planning to support key business decisions.

    Huynh holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Finance, and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of the Pacific.

    Managing Editor

    As managing editor at Climb, Alexander Kwong focuses on the development of the product’s curriculum instruction guide, Climb Playbook, in addition to responsibility of the product’s internet presence, and other consumer-facing marketing. At Climb, Kwong is responsible for shaping and sharing Climb’s cornerstone playbook, while implementing early education programming that aligns with research-based elements of high-quality preschool.

    Prior to Climb, Kwong helped modernize operations at a Los Angeles-based publishing company, translating from European languages to English technical-based books. He equipped the publisher for the digital age and developed transformative technologies that reshaped the company.

    He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from University of California, Los Angeles.
